Reacting to the news that Bishopthorpe GP faces closure, Luke Charters, Labour Parliamentary Candidate for York Outer said:
“The possible closure of the surgery in Bishopthorpe is just the latest in a string of other closures. Wheldrake patients are now required to travel to Elvington. The Stockton-on-Forest surgery is potentially at risk.
“A satellite provision in Bishopthorpe at reduced capacity would not be good enough.
“As GP surgeries close on his watch, Julian Sturdy is now simply a spectator, sitting idly by whilst the consequences of his party’s mismanagement of the NHS are now being felt.
“I speak to hundreds of families across York Outer every month struggling to access the NHS. Closures such as this show why we need a Labour government which will reform the GP system, and train a new generation of doctors and nurses.
“I am keen to listen to anyone who wants to chat about their experience of the NHS in York [email protected] “
